Topography of Protest
A series of transitory architecture built as a physical form of urban insurrection during the siege of Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev, 2014. The impromptu barricades depicted here were the consequence of a mass, public, violent, collective act. Many of the structures used tires, sandbags, paving stones and furniture, created by a more structured, self-organizing, and self-governing social body.
These structures – the architecture, or topography of protest – demonstrates the act of public politics itself.
