Guggenheim

Today I learned I am one of the recipients of a Guggenheim Fellowship. I am very humbled, as those who precede me are many. The Guggenheim’s purpose is to give fellows “blocks of time in which they can work with as much creative freedom as possible”, but they should also be “substantially free of their regular duties.”

Robert Frank created his “Americans” as a Guggenheim Fellow. Other photographers include Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Gary Winogrand and William Eggleston. Very very very big shoes indeed.
